One of South Carolina’s oldest and one of its newest breweries took home medals from the recent 2014 US Open Beer Championship held in Atlanta.
RJ Rockers and Swamp Rabbit both clinched medals in the annual championship, which includes thousands of entries from professional and home brewers alike and is judged by an international panel. RJ Rockers took home a bronze in the brown ale category for its Bald Eagle Brown; Swamp Rabbit won a bronze in the Belgian Witbier category for its Whitey and a gold for its Red Whitey in the Fruit Beer category.
RJ Rockers was one of the first South Carolina breweries to win at the US Open Beer Championship. In 2013, they won a bronze for Son of a Peach in the Fruit/Vegetable Beer category. Thomas Creek also won in 2013, picking up a bronze for its Up the Creek in the Barleywine category.
