As part of its ongoing expansion efforts, Thomas Creek planned to finally construct a proper taproom where visitors can enjoy the brewery’s offerings. The facility would be separate from the brewery itself, where most tastings were being held. And with SC breweries now being able to serve pints, it’s was a commonsense move to allow more people a chance to enjoy more of TC’s brews.

Brewery 85 tasting room opens in March

Brewery85

If you missed the grand opening of Brewery 85 this past weekend and were hoping to visit the tasting room soon to make up for it, you’ll have to wait until next month.

The brewery announced Tuesday morning that regular operating hours for the tasting room won’t begin until Thursday, March 6. While there will be occasional operating days throughout February, everyone wants to make sure things are running smoothly before beginning regular hours.

When they do open, they’ll operate Thursdays and Fridays from 4-7 PM and Saturdays 11 AM to 4 PM.

Brewery 85 sets tentative opening day

Brewery85

Greenville’s Brewery 85 has come a long way since I first got a look at the place earlier this year. From a thicket of brush to a full-fledged brewery, development at one of SC’s newest beer spots has been moving along full steam ahead all year. And they’re confident enough in their progress to pencil in a grand opening date: January 18, 2014.

Tuesday evening, the brewery posted an update about its progress so far. In short, the first couple of batches will be brewed beginning next week and should hit the Greenville market soon after. While opening day isn’t set in stone, things are going smoothly enough to put a potential date out there. A tour and tasting schedule hasn’t been announced yet but will be announced once the brewery’s new website launches.

Freehouse opens tasting room Saturday

Freehouse

Charleston’s Freehouse Brewery will open its tasting room to the public for the first time this weekend.

While beer from South Carolina’s newest brewery has been available around the Charleston area for a few weeks, the brewery itself has not been open to the general public. That changes this Saturday, December 7, when the brewery will be open for tastings and tours from noon to 5 PM.

Freehouse is located at 2895 Pringle Street, Suite B, in Charleston.

Quest, River Dog update tasting room hours

scbrewers

The (tasting room) times, they are a-changin’ for a couple more South Carolina breweries.

Earlier this week, Conquest announced it would be adding an additional day and a few more weekend hours to its tasting room’s hours of operation. And since then, two other SC breweries have followed suit:

  • Quest pushed their opening time back an hour for weekdays. They will now be open from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursdays and 4-9 p.m. on Fridays.
  • River Dog has added “Hoppy Hump Day” to its tasting room hours. They’ll now be open on Wednesdays from 3-8 p.m., in addition to Thursdays and Fridays (same hours) as well as Saturdays (noon-8 p.m.).

Conquest debuts Brutus Imperial Stout tonight

Conquest

A couple of weeks ago, during a beer dinner in Columbia, Conuqest gave attendees the chance to try one of the first tastes of their upcoming Brutus, a 10.5% imperial stout brewed with, among other ingredients, chocolate malt, roasted barley and Warrior hops. The brewers promised to release the beer to the general public soon, and starting tonight, you’ll be able to get a taste for yourself.

Brutus will see its debut in the Conquest tasting room Wednesday night beginning at 5 p.m. For now, there’s only one sixtel of the beer available, so tasters and pints only, but more will be made for all to enjoy later this year.

Pitch black in body, Brutus wields his weapons of chocolate malt, roasted barley, and oatmeal to wreak havoc on your taste buds. With a body thick enough to coat your palate and leave his stain forever in your memory, Brutus invites you to join him in his dark quest for control of the known world.

Conquest expands tasting room hours

Conquest

Looking to spend more time at Columbia’s first and only production brewery? You’re in luck.

Late Monday, Conquest announced they had expanded their tasting room hours. Starting this week, the tasting room will be open from 5-9 p.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays; noon – 4 p.m. and 5-9 p.m. on Saturdays; and 1-4 p.m. on Sundays.

The brewers have been discussing the possibility of adding more hours since they opened the tasting room a couple of months ago but waited to see what the response was like. With demand as popular as it has been, another day and a few more hours on the weekend should be beneficial.
