Alpine begins SC distribution
Following its acquisition by Green Flash nearly a year ago, California’s Alpine Beer Co. will begin limited distribution in South Carolina starting this week.
Alpine acquired by Green Flash; SC distribution possible
In a surprise announcement this morning, San Diego-based Green Flashing Brewing Co. said it had acquired Alpine Beer Co., a much-hyped California brewery available only in the Golden State, with the two breweries striking a mutual production agreement. It’s is one that could bring much wider distribution for Alpine, including to South Carolina.
SC wins another round of Stone Enjoy By IPA
For the third time this year, South Carolina will be the recipient of a round of Stone‘s Enjoy By IPA.
With the series of super-fresh IPAs coming up on its one-year anniversary, the Palmetto State was picked to receive the best by-emblazoned brew along with 22 other states. This release – 09.13.13 – is the largest to date.
States are picked based on the highest amount of social media hits the people of a particular area can create. SC previously received 04.01.13 and 05.17.13, the fifth and seventh releases in the series, respectively. 09.13.13 will be the seventh Enjoy By release this year.
The beer will be bottled next Thursday, Aug. 8, and should be on shelves within a week after that. It is best enjoyed by (obviously) Sept. 13.
SC in line to enjoy Enjoy By again?
I’m not the biggest fan of BeerAdvocate because … well, there are a lot of reasons. But the South-Atlantic regional forum is a good place to find out what’s going on in the Southeast, including South Carolina.
And from time to time, you pick up an interesting news tidbit, such as this one: According to a representative for Advintage, who distributes Stone in the Palmetto State, South Carolina will be getting another round of Stone’s Enjoy By IPA. You’ll recall we got the most recent batch of the über-fresh IPA – 04.01.13 – a couple of weeks ago, but one of the upcoming rounds will reportedly hit sometime in May, well past the “Drink By” date of the latest batch.
Enjoy By 04.20.13 will be bottled soon and shipped to places including Alaska, Idaho, Colorado, Missouri and more. Could Enjoy By 05.XX.13 be close behind?
Barley’s planning ‘Most Arrogant Bash’ featuring Stone CEO
Of the more than 360 bars that participated in the Stone‘s Most Arrogant Bar Challenge of 2012, Barley’s in Greenville managed to come out on top, selling the most Stone Arrogant beers during the month of October.
To celebrate, the brewery is throwing a party this June, and who better to celebrate the joy of Stone’s selections than the brewery founder himself, CEO Greg Koch.
More specific details about the event will be announced later – all Barely’s knows for now is it’ll be at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 13 – but you can expect some pontificating from the bearded one and tons of unique and rare Stone beers on tap.
Stone Enjoy By IPA coming to SC
One of the most popular new IPAs of 2012 had to be Stone‘s Enjoy By series. Being some of the biggest pushers of hoppy beers, Stone always stresses – and any good beer geek knows – that it’s best to enjoy an IPA as fresh as possible. With that in mind, they started brewing a series of IPA with a must-drink-by date slapped on the front of the bottle.
The four previous entries in the series – 09.21.12, 11.09.12, 12.21.12 and 02.15.13 – hit just a handful of markets. But with 04.01.13, 19 new markets will get to enjoy the brew, including South Carolina.
According to Stone’s website, the beer is expected to hit Wednesday, Feb. 27, meaning there’s just a little more than a week to go until arrival. Obviously, you’ll want to drink it as fresh as possible, because come April 1, it’ll be pulled from shelves.
