In its January issue, BeerAdvocate Magazine not only dubs Greenville’s Birds Fly South Ale Project as one of the best new breweries in the country but even features brewery founders Shawn and Lindsay Johnson on its cover.
The annual list – which is voted on by readers and contributors of the magazine – compiles the most creative and promising upstarts in the US. While the full list hasn’t been revealed yet, Birds Fly South was announced as one of picks when the issue’s cover was revealed Monday.
“Lindsay & I are beside ourselves,” said Shawn Johnson. “We’re overwhelmed with how incredible this state is and how accepted we are. To be asked to be in an article and talk about our new little brewery is one thing, but to have my butt (literally) on the cover! Wow!”
The couple, who officially opened the brewery last September, was also featured in a video produced by BeerAdvocate highlighting some of the breweries on the list.
Additionally, the brewery is featured in BeerAdvocate’s showcase of places to drink in Greenville.
