Today’s really awesome under the radar news comes courtesy of Maine Beer Company, which on Friday officially (and surprisingly) launched in South Carolina.
The “Do What’s Right” brewery officially launched in the Palmetto State late last week as indicated by a tweet from the Charleston Beer Exchange. It’s a sizable launch selection that includes Zoe, a 7.2% amber ale; Peeper, a 5.5% hoppy American ale; and King Titus, a 7.5% American porter.
According to the brewery’s website, they’ve signed with Advintage for distribution, which means they should be available in most major markets soon.
Aside from its simplistic, minimalist label artwork, Maine Beer Co. is best known for being an incredibly environmentally conscious brewery. They donate 1% of their gross sales to environmental non-profits through the One Percent for the Planet campaign, use energy-efficient equipment in the brewery, donate their spent grain to local farmers and donate some of the earnings from their tasting room to local charities.
