Things haven’t slowed down at Greenville’s Brewery 85 since opening a few weeks back. With a strong showing at Brewvival and migrating from soft hours to regular operation of their taproom, the city’s newest brewery has been working hard to keep things moving.
That momentum continues Thursday night with the brewery debut of two new beers.
First up is the second test batch of 864 Weizen. The small batch of the 4.5% Bavarian Weizen was fermented using specialty yeast cultivated with the guys from SouthYeast Labs. The brewery is planning to blend the best aspects of both test batches into the first large-scale batch of the beer being brewed next week.
Also new is Sweet Tea Sour, a 7% pilot batch that was the first beer brewed on Brewery 85’s big system. It was also produced using SouthYeast Labs yeast and hopped with Centennial. It’s a sweet, lemony brew that really does resemble sweet tea. A test batch was available at Brewvival and kicked quickly.
Both beers aren’t available for growler fills, but the usual flights/half pints/pints are available. The Chuck Truck will also be on site to help soak up some of the libations. Brewery 85 is open from 4-7 PM.
