Stone Enjoy By IPA coming to SC

One of the most popular new IPAs of 2012 had to be Stone‘s Enjoy By series. Being some of the biggest pushers of hoppy beers, Stone always stresses – and any good beer geek knows – that it’s best to enjoy an IPA as fresh as possible. With that in mind, they started brewing a series of IPA with a must-drink-by date slapped on the front of the bottle.

The four previous entries in the series – 09.21.12, 11.09.12, 12.21.12 and 02.15.13 – hit just a handful of markets. But with 04.01.13, 19 new markets will get to enjoy the brew, including South Carolina.

According to Stone’s website, the beer is expected to hit Wednesday, Feb. 27, meaning there’s just a little more than a week to go until arrival. Obviously, you’ll want to drink it as fresh as possible, because come April 1, it’ll be pulled from shelves.

Hominy Grill announces post-Brewvival breakfast lineup

Last week I wrote about the Morning After Brewvival Sunday Beer Breakfast, a little hair of the dog gathering to help attendees fight whatever residual sluggishness they may feel post-Brewvival.

Beer will be provided by Dogfish Head, Sierra Nevada and Coast, and the owners of all three breweries will be on hand to rub elbows and talk shop. Exactly what’s on tap hasn’t been announced yet, but Hominy Grill – the much-hyped Charleston eatery providing the food – announced its menu on Monday. It includes:

  • Beer-battered French toast with stout syrup and praline bacon;
  • Shrimp and brown gravy over grits;
  • Green pork and scrambled egg enchiladas with refried beans;
  • Sweet potato hash; and
  • Cheddar biscuits

All sound like a great way to fight Sunday’s hangover. (Come on. You know you’re gonna have one.)

There are only 100 tickets being sold for the event, but a few remain. Tickets are $45 a pop and include all the food and beer you like. More details can be found here.

Holy City fish fry kicks off Brewvival weekend

holycity

We’re just days away from Brewvival 2013, and while many posts on this blog have been dedicated to all the fun in store this Saturday, Charleston’s Holy City will be getting a jump on the festivities with a big fish fry the night before.

The GABF gold medal-winning brewery is throwing a Pre-Brewvival Fish Fry at the brewery this Friday evening. In their weekly email blast, more details were released about what’s being offered at the fry.

Roadside Seafood will be frying up some Holy City beer-battered catfish and jalapeno cheese hush puppies, and HoM will have a variety of sliders available, including a tje Pig Jam Slider with bacon jam and HoM steak sauce; the 3 Little Pigs Slider with pulled pork confit and topped with chorizo pork grinds; and te Turkey Slider with swiss and green goddess aioli.

Also being teased is the chance to get an early taste of the beers Holy City will be pouring at Brewvival the next day, all of which sound mighty tasty. The Bluestone Ramblers will also be performing.

Admission is free, but you’re on your own for beer and food. The party runs from 4-8 p.m., or normal tasting room hours. The brewery is located at 4155 C Dorchester Road in North Charleston.
