In their seemingly ceaseless campaign to create bigger and bolder versions of their beers – see: Imperial Doughnut Break, BBL Imperial Biscotti Break – Evil Twin has once again created another beast of a brew, this time taking their Even More Jesus imperial stout, dumping it in bourbon barrels and then blending the result.

Evil Twin bottling Imperial Doughnut Break
If you’ve followed Westbrook or Evil Twin‘s social media presence recently, you knew this was coming … but it’s still pretty awesome to know it’s happening: Brewvival 2013 favorite Imperial Doughnut Break is coming to bottles.
Last year, Evil Twin’s Jeppe stuffed whole donuts into a keg of Imperial Biscotti Break and tapped it for the masses. It was well received, and the brewer recently returned to Westbrook to brew the beer on a much larger scale, cramming more than 1,000 donuts into the brew.
Get your insulin shots ready, and expect to see this one on shelves soon.
CBX owners featured on new Evil Twin brew
No strangers to being featured on Evil Twin label artwork, Scott Shor and Rich Carley of the Charleston Beer Exchange will again be front-and-center on a new brew from the Danish gypsy brewer.
Bozo Beer – there’s probably some inside joke there – is a gargantuan 17.2% ABV imperial stout brewed with coffee and features a mosaic of the CBX duo on the label. It’s not clear what other adjuncts went into the beer, but the label says you can expect notes of chilies, marshmallow, vanilla bean, muscovado sugar, cinnamon and more.
The beer was brewed and bottled at Westbrook. Look for it on shelves soon.
BBL Imperial Biscotti Break on the way
We’ve gotten Biscotti Break and it’s imperial big brother. We’ve gotten it with chilies and hazelnuts, and with cherries. Some of us have even gotten it with jalapenos and Spanish ham. But aged in bourbon barrels? That’s a new one.
Coming soon from Evil Twin – and brewed and aged at Westbrook – is yet another take on the imperial stout brewed with coffee, vanilla and almonds. This time, the beer has been aging in mystery bourbon barrels since January. As Westbrook did with its BA Mexican Cake, the base beer was aged first, then the adjuncts were added after it was racked.
Around 350 cases were produced and could hit SC markets as soon as this week.
Westbrook brews yuzu beer at Westbrook
Jeppe Jarnit-Bjergsø – he of Evil Twin fame – was back in the Palmetto State this week to work on yet another beer with his old friends at Westbrook.
Photos posted of the Westbrook Facebook page Wednesday show Jeppe and Edward Westbrook working side-by-side on an upcoming pale ale brewed with the Asian yuzu fruit. A yuzu is a small citrus fruit that tastes like a cross between an orange and a lemon. Sounds like a delicious late-summer brew.
Justin Blåbær fever consumes SC
To say I’ve been excited for the release of Justin Blåbær – the new collaboration from Evil Twin, Westbrook, and the Charleston Beer Exchange – is an understatement. In fact, I can’t remember ever wanting to get my hands on a bottle of beer so badly as this one.
Sure, the beer sounds fantastic – a 4.5% Berliner weisse brewery with blueberries – but that’s secondary. The label artwork … Jesus Christ, is that not the most glorious thing you’ve ever seen? I’m going to frame it!
Not only do you get Rich Carley (CBX) talking about his first kiss, Ed and Morgan (Westbrook) with Danish fever, Ryan Witter-Merithew (Fanø Brughus) being shy AND Brian Ewing (12 Percent Imports) and Scott Shor (CBX) doing … um … all pictured on one bottle. But possibly the most wonderful photo of Evil Twin’s Jeppe Jarnit-Bjergsø takes up the majority of the artwork. It’s just … there aren’t words for how gloriously ridiculous this artwork is.
The beer’s already hit Charleston and should be arriving in Columbia and Greenville later this week.
Westbrook, Evil Twin, Local Option unite for Plastic Man
What you see above is reportedly the tessellated mug of Brian Strumke of Stillwater front and center on Plastic Man, the new collaboration between Westbrook, Evil Twin and Local Option, a new arrival to the Palmetto State via Chicago.
Plastic Man is a 5.5% saison style ale brewed in Mt. Pleasant. And if you’re looking for a description of what to expect, you’re out of luck. The side of the label reads simply “Taste the Colors, Hear the Aromas, Smell the Carbonation.”
I don’t know. Maybe they were high?
The beer was released in Charleston this week and should hit the rest of the state soon.
