The Finisher, Conquest Brewing Co.’s massive anniversary imperial stout, returns this month as the Columbia brewery readies to celebrate its second anniversary. And as with the inaugural 2014 release, the brewery is planning a day-long party to celebrate the beer’s release, which this year includes two bourbon barrel-aged variants.
As far as Columbia beer goes, Conquest is renowned for its darker offerings, including their Harlequin spiced imperial stout and The Finisher, its 17.5% anniversary imperial stout (which returns Jan. 24). But just as popular is Brutus, a 12.6% imperial stout first released earlier this year that will return to taps beginning this week and – for the first time – in bottles as well.
The All About Beer Magazine-sponsored World Beer Festival returns to Columbia on Saturday, Jan. 17, and as they did last year, AAB representatives are collaborating with a Columbia brewery on a special beer for the event.
The Capital City’s first brewery tour business gets rolling this Friday, Nov. 7, as the Columbia Brew Bus begins its weekly tours of Columbia’s breweries.
Conquest on Tuesday announced the return date for The Finisher, its massive anniversary imperial stout, which next year will be joined by three new variants.
The number of breweries representing the Palmetto State at the 32nd annual Great American Beer Festival – being held in Denver, CO this week, Oct. 2-4 – has tripled from last year, with nine of South Carolina’s finest making their way to the country’s largest beer festival and competition.
Since being signed earlier this year, the “Stone Law” has begun to show its worth among South Carolina’s craft breweries, with one of the state’s newest breweries as well as one of its oldest both recently benefitting from the law’s expanded privileges.
