About a month and a half ago, Columbia’s River Rat Brewery welcomed the crew from Tampa, FL’s Cigar City Brewing to brew a collaboration beer while the latter was in the Capital City for an event. The result of that collaboration – a sweet potato pie imperial stout – will make its debut in Columbia Tuesday, Nov. 24.
Back in September, Cigar City visited Columbia as part of River Rat’s inaugural ColaTown Oktoberfest. Prior to the event they brewed an imperial stout with nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla beans and 200 lbs. of sweet potatoes. The resulting beer – And I Shut My Mouth, named after a line from Alabama’s “Song of the South” – comes in at just more than 9% ABV.
On Nov. 24, the beer will be released on draft and in 12 oz. six packs at the brewery. You can get a look at the artwork below and find more details about the release here.
