Southern Barrel Brewing Co., the first brewery to call Bluffton home, officially opens its doors to the public today.
Originally scheduled to open last February, grand opening events will be held at the brewery throughout the weekend. Southern Barrel houses a 10,000-square-foot production facility and a 2,500-square-foot tavern and taproom. Brewers plan to produce between 12,000 and 15,000 barrels a year. No distribution plans have been announced yet.
Southern Barrel’s website currently lists 10 beers on tap ranging from lagers and session ales to dry stouts and IPAs. The selection skews toward the lighter side with the heaviest beer coming in at 6.5% ABV. Wines are also available, as well as a full menu of appetizers, sandwiches and salads.
The tavern officially opens at 1 PM Friday with a ribbon cutting at 5 PM. They’ll be open through Sunday featuring live music every afternoon. Head over to their website for a full list of food and drinks.
