American Craft Beer Week is coming May 12-18 and breweries across the country will be hosting various events to help celebrate the occasion. For Greenville’s Brewery 85, that means the release of a new beer and the christening of their outdoor beer garden.
On Saturday, May 17, Brewery 85 will celebrate ACBW with Wheatfest 2014 and the release of their (864) Weizen, a 5.5% Bavarian Weizen. The beer has been released before and is one of the brewery’s flagship beers, but this latest batch brings together the best aspects of prior test batches. The beer is made using German hops, grain from Riverbend Malt House in Asheville and yeast cultivated by the guys at SouthYeast Labs. The brewery touts it as the first weizen made in America since Prohibition using local yeast and malts.
In addition to the beer release, the brewery will officially be opening its outdoor beer garden. The area overlooks the property and the area where fruits will be grown in the future.
Food and music will be on hand as well. You can find more details over at Brewery 85’s website.
