This week marks a milestone for The Community Tap as the Upstate craft beer and wine store holds the grand opening for its new, expanded store.
Tradesman opens Saturday
Another Charleston brewery will open its doors to the public this weekend as Tradesman Brewing Co. comes online.
The brewery will hold its grand opening Saturday, April 5, from 5-7 PM. While beers will be in limited supply, a host of them will be available to try, including Bricklayers Red Ale, Welders Agave Wheat, Mechanics Blonde, Pipe wrench Porter, Circuit Breaker IPA, Journeyman’s Pale Ale and Apprentice, a new gluten free root beer they’ll be launching.
Food will be available at the event and 17 South Bluegrass will be performing. More details about the opening here.
Yeast, Charleston’s only homebrew shop, opens Saturday
Charleston is arguably the hub of South Carolina’s craft beer scene. With six operational breweries (and more on the way), numerous stores, bars, restaurants and brewpubs, the coastal city has everything you’d want to satiate your beer-related needs.
Except one. Strangely enough, the Charleston area doesn’t have a dedicated homebrew supply store where burgeoning brewers can locally purchase their goods. That is, until now.
River Rat obtains final license, plots February opening
A couple of weeks ago, they got their state license. And today, River Rat announced its local license is in hand, clearing the final hurdle and allowing Columbia’s second production brewery to begin operations.
River Rat plans to brew its first batch during the weekend and will be opening to the public in February. When it opens, it’ll have been less than a year since the brewery went from the planning stages to operation.
Brewery 85 opens February 1
A little later than originally planned, but no complaints – Greenville’s Brewery 85 will open to the public on Saturday, February 1.
Here’s what you need to know:
- The event runs from noon to 4 PM
- Beers will be available to purchase in 16 ounce pours with a limit of three drinks per customer (South Carolina law). There will be no growler fills or flights available.
- Merchandise and glassware will be available for purchase near the exits.
- Cards will be accepted but cash is preferred.
- Food trucks will be on site. Folding chairs will be allowed.
- Parking will be available at the neighboring Mac Papers offices and the Proterra facilities.
