Columbia’s Conquest brewed up its first collaboration beer on Tuesday in conjunction with the Palmetto’s State’s only hop farm.

Matt Rodgers, known to many as the homebrew guru at Lexington’s Keg Cowboy and future head brewer at the Old Mill Brewpub, is also the owner and operator of the Hazelwood Hop Farm in Camden, the only one of its kind in South Carolina. Rodgers is friends with Conquest’s Joseph Ackerman and Matt Ellisor, so it makes sense the trio would eventually work together.

On Tuesday, they brewed an as-yet-untitled American wheat ale using honey malt and fresh Cascade hops straight from the farm. (Clearly, I was in my happy place.) The collaboration should be hitting taps in the tasting room and around town in a few weeks.
