Charlotte, NC’s Birdsong Brewing Co. is the latest beer maker from just across the border to begin distribution to parts of the Palmetto State.
This week, the Queen City brewery began distribution to the Rock Hill, Fort Mill and Columbia regions through Comer Distributing Co.
The brewery’s flagship Jalapeño Pale Ale (a 5.5% beer brewed with deseeded peppers to remove the heat) and Lazy Bird Brown Ale (also 5.5%) as well as their seasonal Wake Up Porter (a 5.8% porter brewed with local coffee and vanilla beans) are now on shelves and draft. Word is cans of MexiCali – their popular seasonal stout brewed with serrano peppers, cinnamon, cocoa nibs and local coffee – should be on their way soon as well.
Birdsong opened in 2011 in the North Davidson neighborhood of Charlotte. They opened a few months after NoDa Brewing, which they shared a parking lot with. In April 2015, they upgraded to a 30-barrel, 17,000-square-foot facility in Charlotte’s Belmont neighborhood.
