Countless businesses in South Carolina were damaged in the recent flooding that struck the area. One of those businesses – Lexington’s Old Mill Brewpub – sustained significant damage following a dam breach earlier this week. To aid in repairs and support for employees, a fundraiser has been established through the GoFundMe crowdfunding website.
An estimated 11 trillion gallons of rain fell on the Carolinas during the past week, causing thousands to be left without power or running water and leaving numerous businesses in ruin. On Monday, following the historic flooding in South Carolina’s Midlands, the Mill Pond Dam in Lexington breached, resulting in much of the Old Mill Brewpub’s deck to collapse and causing major structural damage to building itself. A damage estimate hasn’t been released yet but the brewpub is closed for the foreseeable future.
Following the damage, a crowdfunding campaign was established through GoFundMe to help support the rebuilding effort and to help aid employees who are currently without a job. GoFundMe allows donations of any amount and the business will get to keep all funds donated regardless of whether the campaign’s goal (which is set at $25,000) is reached.
