The Palmetto State will soon be getting its own chapter of the Pink Boots Society, a nonprofit that works to help advance and empower women in the brewing industry. And to help raise awareness about the organization, breweries across the state will be participating in a collaborative kick-off brew day this Sunday, March 8.
An internationally recognized 501(c)3 organization, the Pink Boots Society has chapters across the globe that work to bring more women into the brewing world by inspiring and encouraging those looking to join the profession. With more than a thousand members, the organization will soon have a chapter in South Carolina open to any woman who makes all or part of her income through beer whether as part of a distributor, brewery or retail establishment.
While the chapter has yet to be officially established, a kick-off brew day has been scheduled for this coming Sunday at breweries throughout the state. Greenville’s Quest Brewing Co., Columbia’s River Rat Brewery and North Charleston’s Frothy Beard Brewing Co. will all host brewing events for the commemorative Rye-rish Red Ale.
Details on the brew day and information about who to contact if you’d like to participate can be found here.
