The popular Homefront IPA series is coming to South Carolina with a specialty beer brewed by the folks at Charleston’s Palmetto Brewing Co.
On Tuesday, Palmetto announced it would be releasing its own version of the beer in an effort to raise support and awareness for Operation Homefront, whose local chapter provides emergency aid to soldiers in South Carolina and North Carolina.
Palmetto is one of nearly a dozen US craft breweries participating in the project in 2014. Other participating breweries – including Perennial, Cigar City, 21st Amendment and more – each brew and release their own individual batches of the beer. Homefront is well-known for being aged on unfinished maple Louisville Slugger bats.
The beer will first be available at The Community Tap in Greenville Wednesday, May 28, and then at the Charleston RiverDogs’ Armed Forces Appreciation Night on Thursday, May 29. Expect to see it hit other bars and shops subsequently.
