Last year, Charleston’s Circa 1886 hosted what it dubbed a Beer and Blue Jeans Dinner – an informal beer dinner for such an upscale restaurant – featuring a multi-course meal and spotlighting Westbrook. The event returns Friday, June 13, with a new local brewery in the spotlight: Freehouse
The four-course meal prepared by Circa 1886 Chef Marc Collins will be paired with a different beer from one of the city’s newest breweries:
First Course – Montreal Veal Burger
Toasted Brioche, Mandarin Orange “Ketchup”, Pickled Okra, Lamb Pancetta, Steak Fry
Paired with Ashley Farmouse Ale – A dry Belgian-style saison. Hazy orange hue in the traditional farmhouse brewing style. Yeast-driven fruit and tartness with mild spiciness from the flaked rye and ginger in the background
Second Course – “Shrimp n’ Grits”
Corn Crusted Shrimp, Holy Trinity Succotash, Pea Shoots, Coconut Custard Sauce
Paired with Belgain Golden Ale
Main Course – Coq à la Bière
Ashley Farms Chicken Breast, Basil Bamboo Rice, Wild Mushrooms, Grapefruit Glacage, Cipollini Onions, Baby Carrots
Paired with Folly’s Pride Bitter Blonde Session Ale
Sweet Finish – Glazed Carolina Gold Rice Donut Holes
Local Berry Coulis, Vanilla Bean Ice Cream
Paired with London 2014, India Porter – Roasty and bitter up front with a sweet finish. Smooth, roast chocolate and hops!
Tickets will run you $55, plus gratuity and tip. Make reservations and find out more information here.
