Greenville’s Quest is getting in on the Mardi Gras festivities tonight and launching a new beer to aid in the revelry.
The Upstate brewery will celebrate Fat Tuesday with the release of Melusine Bière de Garde, a 7% farmhouse-style ale brewed with Belgian candied beet sugar and Saaz hops. The beer will be Quest’s spring seasonal. As with all of Quest’s brews, there’s a story behind the name:
Melusine is a figure of European legends and folklore, a feminine spirit of fresh waters in sacred springs and rivers. She is usually depicted as a woman who is a serpent or fish from the waist down (much like a mermaid). She is also sometimes illustrated with wings, two tails or both.
You’ll be able to enjoy the beer when Quest opens at 4 PM.
