The coastal region near South Carolina’s southern tip is in line to get its second production brewery once Hilton Head Island’s Wooden Skiff Brewing Co. comes online in the next few months.

When it begins production in early 2014, the brewery will be the first production facility on Hilton Head. (Hilton Head Brewing Co. is still around, but it’s technically a brewpub.) A look through Wooden Skiff’s Facebook page shows progress has been steady throughout 2013. The brewery already has its federal license, cold storage room, kegs and they’re in the process of constructing a warehouse and tasting room.

As far as beer goes, Wooden Skiff’s first releases will be the Swamp Fox Irish Red Ale and May River Sunset Blonde Ale. The tasting room is expected to be opened by the end of February.
