Palmetto launches new website, re-releases Ginger Slap

Palmetto

Following in the footsteps of RJ Rockers and Thomas Creek – i.e., South Carolina breweries whose websites were long overdue for a 21st century makeover – Charleston’s Palmetto Brewing Co. recently gave their homepage a new coat of paint. Redesigned from top to bottom, the new website gives visitors easier access to the the brewery’s history, its slate of beers, tasting room hours and more. Check it out.

Speaking of Palmetto, the brewery recently re-released Ginger Slap, a 6% reworking of its classic Amber Ale with the addition of Brazilian ginger and cardamom seeds. Unlike a lot of ginger beers, it’s not too strong, instead leaning toward a sweeter ginger nose and a more dry, spicy finish. You’ll find it on tap at the brewery and for sale throughout the Charleston area.

Barley’s looks to reclaim ‘Most Arrogant Bar’ title

IMG_4092

While the staff and clientele at Barley’s in Greenville are far from arrogant, they wear the title of Most Arrogant Bar in the U.S. with pride. And they’re not content with letting go of the title just yet.

Beginning tomorrow, November 15, and running through Sunday, November 24, Barley’s is again participating in the challenge – sponsored by Stone – to see who can sell the most “Arrogant” beers in that timeframe. Participation is simple: All you have to do is purchase a pint of Arrogant Bastard Ale, OAKED Arrogant Bastard Ale, Double Bastard Ale (2013 draft of 2009-2013 bottles) and some other special variants. If Barley’s sells the most in the country, they’ll win for the second consecutive year.

For winning the title last year, Barley’s won the right to throw an insane party featuring a ton of rare Stone brews and a visit from Stone CEO Greg Koch, who was kind enough to sit down with me for a pretty awesome interview. All of that could happen again, and all you have to do is drink. (Tough, I know.)

More details about the challenge here.
