Columbia’s upcoming River Rat Brewery announced Tuesday it would soon sign on the dotted line with the Advintage Distributing Co.

While the brewery’s owners recently said they were strongly considering signing with Advintage, a final decision wasn’t made until recently. River Rat will join SC breweries COAST, Westbrook and River Dog on Advintage’s roster.

Advintage is one of SC’s craft beer heavy hitters when it comes to distribution. They’re responsible for – among many others – Stone, Bell’s, Allagash, Great Divide, Victory, Avery, Ommegang and many more US and international breweries.

Ridgeland’s River Dog Brewing Co. is giving one of its brews an upgrade and adding it to the year-round release schedule.

Starting soon, RD will begin producing its 6.5% ABV Chocolate Rye Porter regularly. The brew – as the name implies – is a blend of sweeter chocolate flavors with a slight spicy rye bite to the finish. It joins the brewery’s other year-round releases, including the American Pale Ale, Coastal Wit and IPA.

Conquest expands tasting room hours

Conquest

Looking to spend more time at Columbia’s first and only production brewery? You’re in luck.

Late Monday, Conquest announced they had expanded their tasting room hours. Starting this week, the tasting room will be open from 5-9 p.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays; noon – 4 p.m. and 5-9 p.m. on Saturdays; and 1-4 p.m. on Sundays.

The brewers have been discussing the possibility of adding more hours since they opened the tasting room a couple of months ago but waited to see what the response was like. With demand as popular as it has been, another day and a few more hours on the weekend should be beneficial.
