The Finisher – Conquest Brewing Co.‘s massive 17.5% ABV anniversary imperial stout – will be making a special mid-year return the weekend of July 29.
Released in January for the Columbia brewery’s anniversary, The Finisher is a huge imperial stout brewed with brown sugar and honey then fermented with champagne yeast to bump up the alcohol content. In addition to the base variant, versions aged in Redemption Rye and High Rye Bourbon barrels were released in 2016.
“We made and sold much more this year, but we held back 240 bottles that we wanted to do something special with later in the year,” Conquest Head Brewer Matthew Ellisor told me. “So we figured why not have Christmas in July?”
The brewery will release 80 bottles of a mix of regular and barrel-aged Finisher each day from Friday, July 29 to Sunday, July 30 when the taproom opens. Bottles will be available on a first come, first-served basis until they sell out. Bottles will retail for $20 for the regular version and $25 for the barrel-aged versions, all tax included.
Break out your ugly Christmas sweaters, too. Wearing Christmas-themed garb will get you half off your first pint, and a full Santa outfit will earn you a free pint.
