About a month ago, I chronicled the arrival and installation of Conquest‘s new 15 BBL fermenter. With that one new piece of equipment, the Columbia brewery was able to increase its fermentation capacity by nearly 50 percent. (They have four 6 BBL fermenters and one 10 BBL fermenter online already.) But since its arrival, it’s sat dormant and ready to be filled.
But now that the brewers are working full-time, its given them the opportunity to get the fermenter online. The new equipment was filled for the first time on Tuesday with batches of Sacred Heart IPA, which has been growing in popularity as summer’s crept in. With the new fermenter online, the brewery’s increased its maximum fermentation capacity to a little more than 1,500 gallons at any one time.
Coming soon: A set of plastic fermenters that will be used for experimental and one-off brews.
