A couple of weeks ago, I was helping out down at Conquest when the subject of a new beer – Warrior Heart – came up. And in a moment of downtime between brewing and cleaning, the decision was made: Eh, why the hell not? Let’s brew it now.
And so it was done. Warrior Heart, which is being released today in the Conquest tasting room, is a variation of the brewery’s flagship Sacred Heart IPA (7.2% ABV). Sacred Heart is used as the base of the beer, but two rounds of Warrior and Citra dry-hopping are added on top. Off the fermenter, this highly bitter beer stuck to the back of my throat, but that abrasiveness has probably been mellowed a bit by the addition of Citra.
Warrior Heart will be available in the tasting room starting tonight and around Columbia soon after.
